Now the real work on your windsurfboard starts!
The center rocker of your windsurfboard is made out of 6mm poplar. A light weight wood as Paulownia, but not as stated here, as water insensitiv as Paulownia. The advantage of using poplar is, that you can get it as a multiplex plate.
But as these multiplex plates are not long enough I have to join them together. And to make this more fun it is done by hand.
Here you see me taking some measurements on where the frames will be.
The rocker is already drawn according to your vision on the poplar and waits to be cut out.
After I have roughly cut out the Rocker with my table saw I hand plane it down to my exact rocker lines.
Why hand plane it? Well, it’s fun, as least for me. The feeling of very sharp plane is very satisfying.
You will never see me without my headphones. They serve two reasons. First to listen to podcasts, audiobooks or just some music. And the second is, that they have an excellent noise cancelling, so my eardrums stay save. At least as long as I do not listen to loud to music!
